Né à Riga, en Lettonie, en 1973, David Bezmozgis a émigré avec ses parents au Canada en 1980. Il vit aujourd'hui à Toronto. Son recueil de nouvelles, Natasha, a été sélectionné par le Los Angeles Times comme un des meilleurs livres de 2004 et a gagné le Commonwealth Writer's Prize for Best First Book.
